In most cases, a retainer is required.  A retainer fee is a dollar amount that the attorney and the client agree on before the attorney begins work. The fee is paid up front. We identify the amount of work that the matter will require and calculate a reasonable fee based on the time and effort involved. If we spend less time on the case than anticipated, we return the excess fee amount.
